Creating polygon shapes in Logo

This afternoon in Computing, Year 6 learned how to use a new program for coding – Logo.

Mr Baddhan showed the children how commands are put together in Logo e.g fd 5 (forward 5) and then rt 90 (turn 90 degrees). He asked the children to create several shapes including a square, triangle, octagon, pentagon and a hexagon.

The lesson required the children’s understanding of angles to ensure they set the right angle for the specific shape. For example a square, requires 90 degrees turns.

The children explored different commands including the pen colour, pen size and also refined their programs by using the repeat command.
