Imagery within poetry

In Literacy, Year 6 have been learning all about imagery within poetry. The children have been studying how by using devices such as metaphors, similes, rhyme and repetition, poets are able to ‘paint a picture’ for their audience.

The children have taken their expert knowledge of World War One and the emotions attached with being part of a war, and produced some outstanding poems.

We took the opportunity of recording every child’s poem and sharing them amongst the class. I am sure you will agree we have some budding performers amongst us!

Parallel and perpendicular lines

DSCF0792

Year 6 have been learning about parallel and perpendicular lines in Maths. On Thursday we went out into the playground to see if we could recognise things that had these properties. The children were able to find many things with parallel lines, perpendicular lines or some that even had both. Take a look at our pictures. Maybe you could ask them to explain what these are, to see if they remember!
